ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE
The Murray State OTA program is a distance learning program which trains students to become Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs). After completing the program, graduates can take the National Board Certification Occupational Therapy Examination and apply for OTA licensure. OTA's work with Occupational Therapists to help individuals engage in daily life activities, improving overall well-being. This career offers diverse opportunities to make a positive impact across various age groups.

Thank you for your interest in the OTA program. The OTA program at Murray State College prepares students to become Occupational Therapy
Assistants and it is an exciting profession. Upon successful completion of the program
the graduate will take the National Board Certification Occupational Therapy examination
and meet state licensing requirements.
The OTA works under the supervision of and in collaboration with a licensed occupational
therapist. Together they help individuals engage in the "job of living." Learning, growing, playing, working, managing our homes, and caring for our families
are among the “occupations” of daily life. A career as an OTA offers a wide variety
of opportunities to improve the lives of people of all ages. Occupational Therapy enables people of all ages to regain, restore, develop, or master
the activities of daily life in order to "Live Life to Its Fullest!"

Applicants may apply for a Full-time or Part-Time OTA Track.
Students do not need to apply to OTA to take the general education first-year course work.
Graduating high school students, new to college, or second career students who are interested in applying to the second year of the OTA program need to complete first (1st) year course work or be in the process of completing these courses in order to apply to the second year of the program.
