Murray State College named Quinton Jones the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. He previously served as the Director of Student Life.
Jones came to Murray State in 2020 with the goal of helping students reach their potential and succeed. By trade, Jones is a marriage and family therapist, and a public speaker. To the students, he’s “Q” and someone who makes them feel welcome.
One will always find him around campus interacting with the students.
“I enjoy working in a team environment,” said Jones. “It’s an honor to meet these students on their first day and help them overcome challenges, all the way through walking across the graduation stage. That’s what it is about for me.”
With his background and experience, Jones is the right person to serve Murray State’s students in this capacity.
“Quinton is a natural gatherer of people, creating a sense of community wherever he goes,” said Becky Henthorn, Murray State College Provost. “He brings together individuals from all walks of life, making them feel like they belong.”
Another large aspect of Jones’ job is mental health. “He has a remarkable gift for taking care of students, always putting their well-being first,” Henthorn said.
Serving as the Title IX Coordinator, he is responsible for helping create a safe environment for Murray State students, faculty and staff, and making sure they have access to help, counseling and other resources as needed. Since his arrival, prevention efforts continue to grow and become a focus at Murray State.
“Quinton’s dedication to Murray’s students is unwavering,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “He’s their mentor, guide and supporter. He empowers them to reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives.”
