Murray State College received a funding pledge from the Mercy Foundation on behalf of hospitals in Ardmore, Ada, Healdton and Tishomingo for the construction of the college’s Southern Oklahoma Nursing Education Center (SONEC) in Ardmore.
In 2016, Mercy and Murray State College became official partners with the Murray at Mercy program. The Mercy Hospital System is the largest healthcare system in southern Oklahoma. Mercy employs more Murray State nursing graduates than any other hospital system in the state.
“Working with Murray State College is like connecting with pure energy,” said Daryle Voss, President of Mercy-Ardmore. “Our vision is for a world-class nursing center and the transformation of the SONEC into a dynamic hub of activity is driving us forward.”
Mercy and Murray State share a vision of solving the nursing shortage in southern Oklahoma, one graduate at a time. By creating a space where people are eager to come and engage, Murray State College aims to enhance the availability of local services, directly improving the quality of life for our community.
“Without Mercy’s leadership and partnership, we wouldn’t be able to provide our students with the educational opportunities they deserve,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “The SONEC building will become a beacon of innovation and care, empowering our partners to expand healthcare services and enrich the lives of those in our communities for generations to come.”
