Murray State College named Becky Henthorn the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.

Henthorn has been in higher education for 35 years, beginning her tenure at Murray State in 1992, as an adjunct psychology and sociology instructor. She became a full-time faculty member in 1995,

Henthorn developed the behavioral science program and has been instrumental in the evolution of Murray State’s online programs, writing and submitting the ‘request to develop’ application for the college’s very first online program.

As time went on, Henthorn continued to take on various projects and responsibilities, becoming the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and then Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness.

“I saw the opportunity to make positive changes on things I had never seen done in my tenure. It’s been an honor to serve the college and see it grow so exponentially over the course of my career.”

Henthorn became the Vice President of Academic Affairs in 2012, adding Student Affairs in 2021. With a passion for developing the next generation of higher education leaders, she has added two assistant vice presidents and several directors to her area, allowing for greater efficiency in the areas of academic and student affairs.

“My goal is to continue to improve the quality and variety of education offerings at Murray State,” Henthorn said. “I am excited to see the development of our new programs and degrees.”

Henthorn oversees the academic and student affairs, enrollment management, financial aid, and student support service departments. In 2023, she was vital to the implementation of the college’s new enrollment management system to help streamline the enrollment process. In 2024, she led the college’s 10-year accreditation effort with the Higher Learning Commission. Murray State is now in the open pathway and approved for HLC’s notification program of any new program locations.

“Becky’s leadership is such that she provides a strong and encouraging view of the mission while remaining flexible and effective on the tasks at hand,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “Her unique combination of experiences enriches Murray State, and empowers us to innovate and lead with exceptional insight.”
