Murray State College has named Justin Cellum the Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations.
Cellum began his tenure at Murray State in 2014 as the Women’s Head Basketball Coach and was promoted to Athletic Director in 2017 before moving into Vice President of Business Affairs in 2019.
“I’ve had quite the unconventional career journey here at Murray State”, said Cellum with a smile. “The most rewarding part of my role in Business Affairs is the ability to make a broad impact on the college as a whole. I work with an incredible team who wants to see great things happen for our students and communities every day.”
Now, he oversees the College’s operational, technology and administrative functions.
“Efficiency is vital in maximizing resources,” noted Cellum. “My primary responsibility is to focus on the continual improvement of the College’s operations.”
Cellum led the development and execution of Murray State’s 2040 Master Plan, a 65-page document that lays out the planned development for the college over the next 15 years. He also played a vital role in creating an improved work-life balance for Murray State employees and students that focused on recruitment, retention and flexibility.
“Justin has excelled in streamlining processes and maintaining a well-balanced budget,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “His diligence has allowed us to maintain consistent tuition rates for the sixth consecutive semester while adding funds to our reserves.”
Cellum is also involved in his local community, serving as a city council member and church deacon. He and his wife Tori have three children, Carter, Jordan and Addie, who attend Tishomingo Public Schools.
