In honor of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, Murray State College campuses in Ardmore and Tishomingo held various safety trainings and seminars relevant to Murray State students, faculty, and staff.

As Murray State expands its campuses, additional equipment and outside visitors have increased, making safety more important than ever. The college ensures that the students, faculty and staff feel comfortable with the increased activity.

“I appreciate the work of the College’s Campus Safety Committee for their dedicated efforts to raise awareness and seek innovative strategies to maintain a safe and welcoming educational environment across our campuses,” said Justin Cellum, Murray State College Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations.

Campus Safety Week topics included self-defense, mental health, domestic violence, and safe driving. Murray State also held a safety night walk on both campuses to identify potential safety concerns around campus after dark and ensure adequate pathways, lighting and security measures are in place.

“Maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders is increasingly essential,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “These activities were designed to equip everyone with essential knowledge and skills to recognize, respond to, and prevent potential safety threats.”
