Murray State College has announced the appointment of Brandon Bowling as the new Athletic Director.

Bowling comes to Tishomingo, Oklahoma, from NCAA Division II Jessup University where he spent the past eight years in Rocklin, California. In 2016, Bowling joined the athletic department at Jessup University as the Assistant Athletic Director. Then in 2019, Bowling was promoted to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and was promoted again to Deputy Director of Athletics - a position he held until his hire with Murray State College.

Bowling oversaw all external communication and partnerships for Jessup University athletics, including sponsors and donor-relation activities, sports information, and game operations, to the amount of more than three quarters of a million dollars.

“Brandon brings a new vision to Murray State College Athletics,” said Justin Cellum, Murray State College Vice President of Business Affairs. “He has been a successful leader as an athletics administrator, and we look forward to what he brings to our team.”

Prior to Jessup, Bowling served as the Director of Athletics Marketing and Development for one year with Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was responsible for identifying and creating new revenue streams and growing corporate partnerships.

Bowling’s career in collegiate athletics began in 2005 as an Athletics Marketing Representative with Upper Iowa University. He coordinated and managed in-game promotions, sought external marketing for the department and was an integral piece in their first ever coaches’ show for athletics.

Prior to joining Northern State University, Bowling worked with CBS Sports MaxPreps.com and worked in sales for BSN Sports - the nation's largest team dealer.

Bowling’s educational background is in Sports Management, earning his bachelor's degree at Upper Iowa University and a master’s from the United States Sports Academy in Alabama. He comes with a community background focus, serving as President on his local Chamber of Commerce Board. Bowling also sits on the Board of Sports Business for the United States Sports Academy and has taught adjunct in Sports Management for numerous years.

Bowling and his wife, Becky, have two children, Ayden and Avery.

“His passion for community engagement and advancement will elevate our athletic program to a new level of growth and success,” said Murray State College President Dr. Tim Faltyn.
