FERPA Release Policy
The FERPA release statement policy outlines the procedures and requirements for obtaining consent from students or parents to release educational records.
- Purpose: FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Under FERPA, Murray State College must have written permission from the student (if they are over 18 years old) or from the parent (if the student is under 18 years old) before disclosing any personally identifiable information from the student's education records.

- FERPA Release:
- To give access to Student Records go to Aggies Online and fill out the Student Records Release Screen.
- If the student is unable to complete this process, the student can reach out to the Murray State College Registrar’s Office at registrar@mscok.edu or by phone 1-580-387-7230.
- Confidentiality and Security:
- The student will grant access via Aggies Online.
- The student will create a records password that the recipient will be required to provide to verify the identity of the recipient.
- The student is responsible for removal of access at any time.
- Enforcement and Penalties: Unauthorized recipients will not be able to access a student’s records. If FERPA policies are broken, the individual may be subject to penalty or disciplinary action.
