Murray State College Foundation has been awarded the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages (CCSWB) First-Generation Scholarship.

“First-generation scholarships provide financial support for students who are the first in their families to attend college,” said Morris Smith, CCSWB Vice President of Public Affairs Communications and Sustainability. “We are honored to be a part of their academic journey.”

First-generation students often come from backgrounds where higher education might not have been emphasized or made accessible due to financial constraints, lack of resources, or family circumstances.

“This scholarship is more than just financial assistance – it’s a testament to the commitment of Murray State and its partners to empower students through education,” said Jordyn Frazier, Murray State College Foundation Executive Director. “We are honored and proud to receive such an incredible gift from Coca-Cola Southwest.”

The scholarship must be awarded in 2025 to students who qualify as the first in their family to attend college.

“At Murray State, we know that our students aren’t just earning a degree – they are changing the trajectory of the lives of their families and communities,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “Many first-generation students juggle work, family responsibilities and academic challenges, yet they continue to push forward with determination and resilience. This scholarship gives them the support they need to turn their dreams into reality.
