LANGUAGE ARTS
Murray State College is committed to helping students gain the skills and knowledge they need to be marketable and competitively trained for today’s workforce needs. An Associate of Science in Arts and Sciences provides the general education necessary to succeed in your future career or continued education. The interdisciplinary curriculum exposes students to a broad range of academic areas in the humanities and social sciences, providing a well-rounded foundation for a variety of careers and an ability to learn new subjects effectively.
An AS with an English Emphasis develops competencies in written and interpersonal communication, critical thinking, innovative problem-solving, teamwork, and qualitative and quantitative reasoning.
The Language Arts Division offers transitional courses in reading and writing and general education courses in composition and humanities. Courses include: composition, multiple fields of literature, creative writing, and technical writing. The Language Arts department also houses Murray State's language classes, including Spanish and American Sign Language.

critical evaluation, analysis, and assessment of varying perspectives.
