CERTIFICATES
The time to complete a certificate is much shorter than a degree program and concentrates on a specific field of expertise. Embedded certificates add value to your degree by recognizing skill enhancement and specialization areas. Certificates can also lead to career growth opportunities and help those in the workforce stay updated with industry trends.
Most of our certificates are embedded as a part of a longer degree program, but you do not have to complete the full program to earn a certificate. Students will work with their advisor to select courses and programs to meet their individual goals. Students will submit a graduation application for each certificate track that they complete.

MICRO-CREDENTIALS
A micro-credential is a short, competency-based qualification that demonstrates a specific set of skills. Micro-credentials may be earned through coursework, non-credit activities, projects, or workshops.
A badge is a digital representation of an earned micro-credential. Murray State College's digital badges are hosted by Credly. Students that earn a micro-credential are awarded a digital badge through the Credly platform to showcase their skills on résumés, email signatures, workforce profiles and social media.
Read the Credly Badge Earner Guide for more information on how to use your digital badge.
Some micro-credentials require completing a college course. For these, you’ll need to apply for admission, complete the acceptance process, and meet with an academic advisor to enroll in the required classes. Others can be earned through a workshop or activity and don’t require college admission—just contact the sponsoring department for details.
