SouthernTech has selected Murray State College as its 2025 Oklahoma Associate of Career Technology and Education Partners in Progress award recipient.

This award recognizes the powerful impact of collaboration between educational institutions. Together, SouthernTech and Murray State College are breaking down barriers to education, expanding access to lifelong learning and developing a skilled workforce that benefits communities across the region.

“Murray State’s unwavering dedication to student success and commitment to innovation in education has redefined what’s possible for our students,” said Dr. Eric Ward, SouthernTech Superintendent. “This partnership has created a seamless pathway, empowering students to pursue academic and career-focused goals without compromise.”

One key outcome of this collaboration is the implementation of transcripted credit opportunities. Students who earn industry-based credentials through CareerTech at SouthernTech can now receive college credit when they enroll at Murray State College.

“These opportunities enhance access to higher education and give students a competitive advantage as they continue their educational and professional journeys,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “By fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, we are equipping students with the technical expertise and academic foundation needed to excel in today’s workforce.”

To date, SouthernTech and Murray State College have signed four partnership agreements on biotechnology, criminal justice, nursing and occupational therapy.
