Murray State College Women’s Soccer Finalizes Campaign for Fallen Officers

Murray State College Women’s Soccer collected over $2,500 from their United We Stand campaign to help families of officers killed during the summer of 2016 in Dallas, Texas.

“By fundraising for families of officers killed, we wanted to show our appreciation for everything first responders do to keep us safe on a daily basis.  Their importance can’t be overstated, and it’s important to let those who put their lives on the line for us know we value what they do,” MSC Women’s Soccer Coach Cortney Wiesler said.

“Our campus and our communities really supported this effort for the Dallas Fallen Officers Foundation, and we’re very appreciative of their commitment to the cause,” Wiesler said.

Care packages, including personal letters to each family of a fallen officer, were included in a recent mailing to foundation officials.  Each of the five fallen officer families received information about the Murray State College fundraising soccer match, a bracelet commemorating the game, a check for approximately $500 and a letter written and signed by Coach Wiesler and team members.

“I am extremely impressed with the way Coach Wiesler and our women’s soccer team organized and executed this outreach effort with support from local first responders and parents.  People contributed to the jersey auction in a big way and really cheered the team on to make this campaign successful,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.
