Murray State College to present the musical 9 to 5 in Fletcher Auditorium
Murray State College Arts and Humanities Division will present the musical 9 to 5 in Tishomingo on March 1-3. The production will be presented in MSC’s Fletcher Auditorium each evening at 7 p.m. The cost for adults is $10 and students with MSC identification cards will be admitted free of charge.
The musical is based on the 1980 American comedy film starring Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin and Dolly Parton. The plot is centered around three working women who try to oust their egotistical boss played by Dabney Coleman. A television series based on the film ran for five seasons and the musical, with new songs written by Parton, opened on Broadway in 2009.
“We are so excited to have a production of this caliber produced by and performed on the campus of Murray State College. Many hours of rehearsal have gone into the production, and we hope our communities will come out to enjoy it with us,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.
Students in 9 to 5 from Tishomingo are Brianna Hood, Wesley Kite, and BreAnna Tamplen. Ardmore students in the musical are Gerardo Carrillo, Lenny Frank, Kevin Kerr,
Reece Riggle, and Margi Thompson. Starring from Bokchito are Colby Pesch and Adam Smith. Additional Oklahoma students in the musical are Abigail Farve from Lone Grove, Isaac Goodin and Brianna Owens from Dickson and Jamie Russell, Mannsville, along with Savannah Damiano from Savannah, Texas.
