Murray State College Softball Standout Sydnee Hinkle Named NJCAA Division II All-American
Murray State College freshmen catcher Sydnee Hinkle has been named NJCAA Division II 2nd Team All-American. Hinkle is one of only 32 young women in the nation awarded NJCAA Division II All-American honors.
Earlier this summer, Hinkle was named 1st Team All-Region which qualified her to be added to the All-American candidate list. All-American players were selected by a committee based on season statistics.
“I feel very blessed with receiving this award. It has given me the extra drive to want to do better this next season. I attribute my success to the support from Coach Stone and my team, as well as putting in the extra time in the cage and bullpens,” Hinkle said.
When asked how she feels about next season, Hinkle said, “We have a strong group of returning sophomores and incoming freshmen who will make this coming season even better,” Hinkle added.
Hinkle is only the seventh Lady Aggie to receive this honor in the program’s 18-year history.
"This is a very prestigious award, and we are extremely proud of and applaud Sydnee Hinkle's accomplishments. She has set a stellar example for all student athletes at Murray State College," said President Joy McDaniel.
“We are very proud of Syd. This award is not just a reflection of her work ethic, but our whole team’s desire to continuously improve. Each year we plan to raise our standards of excellence and this award is another step in the right direction for our program,” Murray State College Head Softball Coach Marie Stone said.
Hinkle will return to Murray State College as a sophomore for the 2016-2017 softball season.
