Murray State College golfer tops tournament

Murray State College’s Ali White finished the Southwest Christian University Fall Invitational tied for the top spot. White, a freshman from Idabel, Oklahoma, had a two-day combined score of 148 (75, 73). She tied Kamie Rash from Kansas Wesleyan University to finish first among the women at the tournament.
As a team, the Murray State College women (661) finished tied for third with the Oklahoma Baptist B-team, behind OBU’s varsity team in first (631), and Kansas Wesleyan in second (649).
Coach Al Smith has a team of freshman this year. The women shot well in their first tournament of the season. Elodie-Jane Yates, an international student from England, finished 5th overall with a total score of 156 (76, 80). Kendyll Harvey from Rockwall, Texas scored 176 (89, 87). Megan Buchanan, from Antlers, Oklahoma finished with a total of 181 (92, 89).
The MSC men finished tied for 6th out of 14 teams. OBU’s varsity team took the tournament with a total of 551 for the two days, but only 8 strokes separated the next six teams.
On the men’s team of five were: Derek Loew, from Temple, Texas (70, 75); Cameron Hamilton, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (73, 74); Garrett Fisher, from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma (78, 72); Andrew Grant, from Scotland (75, 76); Grant Davidson, from Keller, Texas (75, 78). Competing as an individual for MSC was Darryl Lynch from Scotland (72, 77).
