Murray State College Foundation to host clothing swap fundraiser in Ardmore

The Murray State College Foundation will host a clothing swap fundraiser in Ardmore on April 28.  Proceeds will benefit scholarships for students in the Occupational Therapist Assistant program at Murray State College.  The fundraiser begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Marketplace @ Ardmore, 112 Paradise Alley.

Guests will be charged a fee of $20 and must bring along five to 10 items of clothing, shoes or accessories they no longer wear.   The evening will begin with music, cocktails and savory snacks for guests while volunteers work to sort and display items donated when guests arrived.

When the swap begins at approximately 7 p.m., guests will be invited to select items for themselves that were donated by other guests.  New items donated by local businesses will also be available for swap.

“We’re really excited to try a different type of fundraiser here in southeastern Oklahoma.  Clothing swaps are really popular in other parts of the country because they allow guests to select new items for themselves while parting with things they no longer wear.  It’s a win-win,” MSC Foundation Director Malynda Cobb said.

Clothing for donation should be laundered, free of stains and in good condition.  Garments will be accepted with or without hangers.  All items that remain after the event will be donated to local charities.
