Murray State College Foundation and President’s Scholars Program to Hold Color Fun Run

Murray State College President’s Scholars Program (PSP) and the Murray State College Foundation are hosting a 5K Color Fun Run on Saturday, April 22 for all ages. Money raised from sponsorships and registration fees will be used to fund scholarships through the Murray State College Foundation.

The 5K Color Run begins at 10 a. m. on Airport Road at Murray State College in Tishomingo.  Early Bird registration is $30 and ends April 14. After that, registration is $35 for adults, $20 for children ages 6-12, and free for children five and younger. Adult runners will get a t-shirt if they sign up by April 14. Race-day registration will be from 9–9:45 a. m.

“This is one of the most fun and important activities of the year at Murray State College.  President’s scholar students get everyone involved, and we all enjoy the fun of it while getting some exercise and raising money for scholarships,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.

Participants may check in and pick up packets and shirts on Friday, April 21 from 12 noon to 6 p. m. at the MSC Campus Center in Tishomingo.

“We wanted to let the runners come early and get their information and shirts so they can just enjoy the day on Saturday,” PSP advisor Ginger Cothran said. “And, of course, we’d like for them to wear their shirts during the run.”

Sponsors help fund the event, and sponsorships begin at $100.  Sponsorships can include signs, names on race t-shirts, billboard ads and inclusion in other advertising for the race.

“We depend on sponsors to help us fund the race and support student scholarships.  This year we’re expecting a big turnout and think sponsors will get their money’s worth by participating.  What we raise will benefit those who need help paying for college and allow MSC to attract many talented students,” MSC Foundation Director Malynda Cobb said.
