Murray State College Announces All-USA Academic Team Nominations

Each year, Murray State College, along with all two-year colleges across the country, is asked to nominate two representatives from their institutions to compete in the All-USA Community College Academic Team contest. For the 2017 competition, Murray State College has nominated Vinsent Nestorov and Claudia Prince.

The All-USA Community College Academic Team recognizes high achieving two-year college students, and annually names 20 team members who each receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Vinsent Nestorov, of Sofia, Bulgaria, is a sophomore majoring in business.  He is a member of the Murray State College soccer team and Phi Theta Kappa. His interests include playing soccer, watching movies and spending time with friends.

Claudia Prince is a sophomore computer science major from Chennai, India. Prince hopes to transfer to Massachusetts Institute of Technology in fall 2017 where she plans to earn a master’s degree in computer science with a minor in business. Prince is a member of the President’s Scholar Program and Phi Theta Kappa.

During the fall 2016 semester, Prince was also selected as one of only 10 students nationwide to receive Phi Theta Kappa’s 2016 Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education. As a Pearson Scholar, Claudia will receive a $5,000 scholarship, a Pearson Mentor and a medallion. She will receive full recognition during Phi Theta Kappa’s 2017 Annual Convention in Nashville, Tenn. in April. Outside her studies, Prince is interested in learning new languages and drawing.

Names of students selected for the 2017 All-USA Academic Team will be announced in March.
