MSC women’s and men’s basketball teams celebrate homecoming with wins


Tishomingo, Okla. (November 5, 2018)-The Murray State College women’s and men’s basketball teams both kicked off their seasons and celebrated homecoming weekend with wins on Friday, November 2 in Tishomingo. 

The MSC women’s team faced Mid-America Christian University in the first game of the evening, which saw the Aggies pull ahead early thanks to sophomores Madalyn Jessepe and Toni Green, a pair of MSC starters who lead all players in scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively.  Murray State College led MACU 50-27 at half and in the second half expanded their lead to ultimately win the game 104-59.  

The Aggies shot 48.8 percent from the field, including 28.6 percent from behind the 3-point line and were able to out-rebound MACU 57 to 24.  The Aggies welcome the undefeated Collin College Cougars to Tishomingo on Tuesday, November 6. 

Following an impressive showing by the Murray State College women’s team, the MSC men’s basketball team faced Creating Young Minds Academy.  The Aggies were led by sophomore guard Lloyd Daniels who scored 17 points and redshirt sophomore forward Derek Guest who scored 14 points. Murray State College also got a boost from the bench as freshmen Mark Harrell Jr. and Shem’mario Stephens each scored eight points in their first regular season games in Aggie uniforms.

Murray State College led CYM 41-28 at half and were able to continue their momentum in the second half, expanding their lead to 23 points to win the game 73-50.  The Aggies shot 27.7 percent from behind the 3-point line and a total of 34.6 percent from the field for the game. Next, the Aggies welcome Missouri State University-West Plains to Tishomingo on Tuesday, November 6.
