MSC Softball Standout Sydnee Hinkle Signs with SOSU and is Named NJCAA National Home Run Leader

Murray State College Softball star Sydnee Hinkle committed to continuing her softball career with the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm in Durant, Okla. Hinkle is also currently sitting in first place of the NJCAA Div. II National Home Run Standings.

“I was surprised when I heard that I was leading the national home run standings. My hitting just clicked from the beginning of the season and I am thankful it kept rolling. I am very excited to see what the rest of this season has in store,” Hinkle said.

Hinkle, a Justin, Texas native, has been a key leader for the Lady Aggies for the last two seasons as she was named NJCAA Division II 2nd Team All-American in 2016.

“Sydnee has an extreme work ethic and is very coachable. She is a great competitor, a great teammate, and a great leader. She is one of the best hitters I have ever been around and I appreciate the opportunity to coach her,” said Murray State College Softball Coach Aaron Mullens.

When asked about her goals for her final season as an Aggie and her future at SOSU, Hinkle said, “Our ultimate goal is to win in Arkansas and Kansas, so we can have our shot in the NJCAA National Tournament. This season has proved to be a great final season for me; we started this season a step behind with a brand new coach and have managed to turn our season around to be one of the most successful teams in the history of our program. I will miss MSC’s family atmosphere, the Tishomingo community, and my friends, but I am excited to start my new chapter at Southeastern in the fall,” said Hinkle.

“Sydnee Hinkle is a standout on and off the field and we are very proud of her accomplishments. She will be a great leader at Southeastern just as she has been at Murray State College,” said President Joy McDaniel.

Upon graduation from Southeastern, Hinkle plans to pursue a career in the Agriculture industry.
