2016 MSC Softball Preview


The Murray State College softball season will soon be underway as the Aggies launch their 2016 season, Feb. 2 at Vernon College. The Aggies will then take on Grayson College at home, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

For the 2016 season, the Aggies will return right-handed pitcher, Jordan Dabney, of Harrah, Okla. Five new players have also been added to the pitching circle: Kira Head, of Caney, Okla., Taylor Bankston, of Hugo, Okla., Kayla Mitchell, of Fairfield, Texas, Audrey Simson, of Cuero, Texas and Sloan Springfield, of Cameron, Texas.

There will be three new Aggies behind the plate with redshirt freshman transfer, Lakyn Hutchinson, of Texarkana, Texas, Sydnee Hinkle, of Justin, Texas, and Macenzi McKeever, of Oklahoma City, Okla., catching this season.

For infield play, MSC will return, Aubrey Wooden, of Kennedale, Texas and Bailey Slovacek, of Ennis, Texas. Katie Caraway, of Durant, Okla., Bailey Toliver, of Ringling, Okla., Kaycee Koiner, of Krum, Texas, redshirt freshman transfer, Selena Mendoza, of Mesquite, Texas, and Shelby Wilson, of Mesquite, Texas. Sloan Springfield and Kayla Mitchell will also see time in the infield.

The Aggie outfield will be completely filled with new players to the MSC program.  Kylie Manning, of Durant, Okla., Randi Vincent, of Claremore, Okla., Michaela Phillips, of Holdenville, Okla. and Jessica Dobbins, of Taylor, Ark.

On top of adding many new faces to the program, the MSC softball field has also seen some new changes. During the off-season, new softball dugouts were installed by Chickasaw Energy Solutions of Marietta, Oklahoma. The dugouts were made possible through MSC softball team fundraising efforts.

The Aggie Softball team is excited for the 2016 season and would like to thank John and Rene Wells of Counter Creation (Garland, Texas) along with Carlos Mendoza for building new helmet and bat boxes for the team, Trinity Industries  and Jimmy Mitchell for the donation of 24 tons of Diamond Pro Professional Blend Turface, Mary and Paul Cook for their sizable donation toward the new dugouts and Williams Sporting Goods, of Paris Texas, for their support this season.
