MSC Hosts Scholastic Contest
Murray State College hosted hundreds of high school students from across the state for the 38th Annual MSC Scholastic Meet on the Tishomingo campus. On Thursday, March 6th more than one-thousand students gathered on campus to test their knowledge in areas from Accounting to World History…and everything in between. There were also practical skills tests in areas such as art and writing. In all, thirty-three categories will be evaluated on the day. Students representing forty schools have registered for the competition.
“It was a great day and we enjoyed having all the students here on campus,” says Academic Services Coordinator T.G. Orr who coordinated the event. “I think that it was a success and hope that the schools involved think the same.”
Visiting students were also given a chance to experience a little of what life is like on the MSC campus. The day was complete with food, fun…and the chicken dance led by some MSC faculty and staff.
“Our ‘DJ’ [Chair of Agriculture and Related Technologies] Jody House had the idea of getting a few staff and faculty out there to dance for our visitors,” says MSC Director of Student Life Michael Burrell. “Our interactions with our students made for some fun outdoor activities to kind of relax them after taking tests all morning. It made for a great day.”
