MSC Golf Teams Qualify for Nationals


The Murray State College men’s golf team won the 2016 NJCAA Division 2 Regional title by 32 shots on Monday, April 18, in Ardmore, Okla. at the Dornick Hills Golf Course. It is the team’s third regional title in the last five years.

Freshman Reece Blair shot a 145 (72-73) and was named the NJCAA Division 2 Regional Individual Champion. Other Aggies receiving honors were freshman George Whitbread who shot a 146 (74-72) and placed second, fourth place was awarded to freshman Davis Farnell with a 153 (75-78), sophomore Preston Lovett came in fifth with a 155 (76-79) and Dominick Patton placed seventh with a 159 (80-79).

The MSC men’s golf team will travel to Plymouth, Ind. where they will compete in the National Tournament from May 24-27, 2016, at Swan Lake Resort.

The MSC women’s golf team placed second at the NJCAA Division 2 Regional Tournament, with sophomore Elodie-Jane Yates with a 156 (75-81), freshman Beth Acey with a 161 (79-82), freshman Kayla Witt with a 165 (86-79) and freshman Montana George with a 175 (88-87) qualifying for the NJCAA National Tournament as individuals.  They will take part in the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament at the LPGA golf course in Daytona Beach, Fla.  May 16-19.
