MSC Foundation Bingo Benefit to Raise Money for Families in Need during the Holidays

The Murray State College Foundation will host a Benefit Bingo event on Tuesday, November 29 at the Johnston County Fair Barn to raise funds for families in need during the holiday season.  Organized by MSC President’s Scholar Program students, NICHE students, and members of the 2016 Leadership Class, a chili dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with bingo games to follow.  Cost of admission is $15 for three bingo cards and dinner.  Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.

Blake Shelton, who has shown interest in attending if his schedule permits, has offered support in the form of a signed guitar that will be awarded during the event.  Other large prizes, including a smart watch and a flat screen television, will be on hand for players with winning bingo cards.  Each player begins with three bingo cards, and additional cards may be purchased at the event.

“Friends from Tishomingo and beyond have always come out to show their support for the Bingo Benefit, and we’re expecting a big turnout this year, too.  We have fun while raising money to make the holidays more special for those who need our help.  It’s a win-win evening with good friends and good food to benefit families in our communities,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.

When the event began four years ago, the proceeds were enough to provide Christmas dinners for three families.  Last year’s event raised enough to provide dinners for 15 families, gifts for their children, and 50 blessing bags filled with necessities for the homeless.  This year’s goal is to raise $4,000 to maintain support levels and assist single mothers attending Murray State College.

“We hope the community will come out to support this event because it’s always lots of fun – and we’re raising money for a great cause.  The more money we raise, the more we can help families in need during the holidays,” MSC Foundation Executive Director Malynda Cobb said.
