MSC Baseball Coach Named Head Coach of Prestigious Summer League Team


Murray State College Assistant Baseball Coach Kevin Soine has been named head coach of a prestigious summer collegiate baseball league in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Soine, who served as the team’s hitting coach last season, has been tapped as head coach for the Martinsville Mustangs in the Coastal Plain League. The Martinsville Mustangs, one of 15 teams in the league, will open their season on May 31, 2018, in Martinsville, Va.

“We congratulate Coach Soine on this outstanding opportunity and are proud to have him as an assistant coach here at Murray State College.  Under his direction, I expect the Mustangs to have a winning season,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.

Coach Kevin Soine said, “I am incredibly humbled and honored to be the next head coach for the Martinsville Mustangs. I want to thank the Mustangs’ organization for this amazing opportunity and for the confidence they have shown in me.”

MSC Head Baseball Coach Sam Bjorling said, “I have been impressed with Coach Soine’s communication skills, his desire to learn, and his eagerness to work with and develop our players. He has been a great addition to our program.”

Soine played outfield for Century College in White Bear Lake, Minn. and later played outfield and pitched for Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Before joining the Aggie Baseball coaching staff, Soine was a graduate assistant baseball coach for the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.
