MSC Baseball and Softball Sweep at Home


The Murray State College baseball and softball teams swept their opponents at home earlier this week.

MSC baseball beat NOC-Enid 11-1 and 7-5. Fernando Garcia, Clay Crews and Marten Pauwels, Austin Ferguson and Cade Carter recorded home runs for the Aggies, with Fernando Garcia racking up two on the afternoon.

MSC had game one in their pockets early on, with seven runs in the first three innings. Luke Jones’ RBI single and Clay Crew’s two-run home run began the early lead.

Lane Rice, JT Watt, Greg Greenwood and Luis Fuentes all saw time on the mound in game one, with Greg Greenwood and Luis Fuentes striking out two.

Game two was back and forth until the fifth inning. Garcia, Ferguson and Carter helped lead the Aggies to their second victory of the afternoon. They combined for three hits and six RBIs. Fuentes did well on the mound, by pitching a shutout inning for the Aggies.

MSC softball defeated the North Central Texas College Lions 7-0 and 6-4. Sydnee Hinkle recorded four RBIs on three hits for the Lady Aggies. Hinkle also homered in the third inning and double in the fifth and seventh innings.

Taylor Bankston and Audrey Simpson both were on the mound for the Aggies, with Bankston striking out two batters.

The Lady Aggies rallied through the second game with an RBI single from Shelby Wilson and two RBIs from Bailey Tolliver. Kira Head and Taylor Bankston saw action on the mound, with one strike out from Head and two strikeouts from Bankston.
