Free concert by East Central University Chorale and Showtime at MS

The public is invited to attend a FREE concert by the East Central University (ECU) Chorale and ECU Showtime at Murray State College in Tishomingo on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.  The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Fletcher Auditorium and is sponsored by the MSC Cultural Events Committee.

Also on hand to perform in Tishomingo will be ECU Showtime.  Showtime is well-known for its upbeat musical style and show-tune performances.

East Central University’s award-winning chorale claimed the top prize in the Mixed Choir: Level of Difficulty I category at Golden State Choral Trophy 2016, an international competition in Monterey, Calif.

In the finals, ECU competed against four choirs, two from the United States and two from Poland. Eighteen choirs were selected to take part in the festival, representing the Philippines, Croatia, Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Poland and the U.S.

By winning the Golden State Trophy, the Chorale qualifies for the “Champion of Champions” at the World Choir Games for the next five years.

Murray State College alumni performing on April 11 will be Chris Coulter, Brianna Hood, Maggie Peercy, Courtney Phillips, Jamie Russell and Dakota Taylor.

“We are extremely pleased to have the ECU Chorale and Showtime perform on our campus and hope to welcome them with a large crowd in Fletcher Auditorium.  These are extremely talented performers, several of whom are graduates of Murray State College.  It will be a wonderful concert,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.

There will be no charge for admission, but donations for anticipated international competition travel by the ECU Chorale will be gladly accepted.
